Praised for the clarity and warmth of her “fine voice” (Ithaca Times) as well as her compelling stage presence, Rachel Silverstein's performances are always memorable. Silverstein will be performing in several concerts this summer with the Respiro Opera workshop at Opera America and MORE Opera of the greater Manhattan area.
Silverstein graduated May 2022 with her Masters in Opera Performance from the Mason Gross School of the Arts with the reception of the Michael Fardink Memorial Award for Outstanding Vocalist.
Previous roles include a "Despina" in a staged reading of COSI FAN TUTTE (Luke Housner Summer Opera Workshop), "Helena" in Britten's mythical opera A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM (Mason Gross School of the Arts), "Lady Billows"(ALBERT HERRING, Miami Classical Musical Festival), "La Musica" (L'ORPHEO, Mason Gross School of the Arts), "Pitti-Sing" (THE MIKADO, the Pittsburgh Savoyards), and "La Gloire" (ARMIDE, Miami Classical Music Festival). One company she was particularly involved with was the Pittsburgh Savoyards. Silverstein performed leading roles in three separate productions of the company as well as participated in the fundraising and community of the company.
Silverstein has previously been a guest performer with the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra as a soloist for the annual Holiday Pops concert. Most recently she has premiered Andrew Kosinski's chamber work, "Malstâ al tornerá seren!" with the Helix! Ensemble. She had previously performed with the Helix! Ensemble as "Mamlambo" in Angelique Mouyis' duet "Still" from her opera BESSIE.
